A Forest
AN AUDIOVISUAL TRIBUTE TO THE CURE
6' 03"
Certain songs
are not just music: they are rites of passage. At the dawn of the 1980s, The
Cure’s "A Forest" was not merely a single, but a genuine cultural
epiphany and a sonic obsession. A masterpiece that redefined the concepts of
space, darkness, and alienation, transforming rock into a minimal and hypnotic
landscape. For FAusto INtrieri, that sound was a compass during his most
fragile years, when music was not just listening, but a refuge and an identity:
the era in which he grew up, navigating between the raw energy of an acoustic
drum kit and the pioneering, early codes of computer music immersed within New
Wave music.
"It is a
track that marked my youth, something I felt on my own skin, a shiver that
remained imprinted in my life experience."
The 50th Anniversary and The
Cure's Final Chapter
The
release of this reimagining arrives at a crucial historical juncture for the
British band's enduring myth. With the celebrations of The Cure’s 50th
anniversary on the horizon and the possible retirement from the stage foretold
by Robert Smith himself, FAusto INtrieri’s version stands as a timely homage,
designed to bridge an immortal artistic legacy across to new generations of
listeners. It is not a nostalgic celebration, but the ultimate proof of a
masterpiece’s sheer timelessness.
The Forest
Crossed: A Mental and Emotional Dance
This work is neither a cover in the traditional sense, nor a cold exercise in
style. It is a nostalgic caress, a transformed echo, an intimate way of saying
thank you. FAusto INtrieri took that forest and crossed it in his own way: few
sounds, lots of space. The track deconstructs the original architecture to
evolve into a hybrid structure: first the ambient fog, rarefied and stripped of
percussion, letting the listener drift into emotional suspension; then a beat
ignites, evolving into a pulsing electronic groove. An interior journey rather
than a club dancefloor.
"I
didn't want this return to 'A Forest' to be a mere cover or a remix, but an
exploration of sonic geometry. This track was a guide, a sound that since my
adolescence taught me that melancholy can dance. I wanted to deconstruct that
analog darkness I grew up with in the '80s, to rebuild it through the lenses of
electronic music and digital art, integrating
contemporary techniques and generative imagery. It is a
track with an evolutionary development and a dynamic explosion: from the
hypnotic silence of ambient to the physical pulsation of dance. A silent
interior dance between memory and present."

13 is my favourite, my lucky number
It attracts me
and I have always chased it, it is the day I was born in May.
I wanted to give to this
album a very
personal title because this is a very important
record for me. After many years of working as a
musical composer,
record producer, sound engineer and
music consultant, where I was deeply immersed in
the professional
audio and music industry
business, My number is
13 marks my return to my roots. It almost brings me
full circle with
the sound I started making
music with.
With this
record, I start again from
scratch, I reconnect with
my primordial
sound, with a free approach to
musical writing, outside from
the market logics,
with my need to experiment. My number is 13 is therefore a point of arrival but also a
new departure. So
a new journey begins, the
destination at the
moment is unknown, but I'd like to
take you with
me ”.

Electronic music is said to be electricity, electricity that turns into emotions.FAusto INtrieri, after years away from the music industry is back, turning on all his instruments and returning with a solo project, a mini-album with the super lucky name “MY NUMBER IS 13”. MY NUMBER IS 13 is 5 tracks, 30 minutes and 49 seconds of music all recorded and mixed in his studio in Milano. “It’s a journey, a trip that crosses and touches many aspects of contemporary electronic music.” The EP starts with “Landscape Suite”, a song with poignant and cinematic tones where FAusto's inclination for audiovisual and score sound is heard. "Train To Kepler-16", more electronic, hints at a mental journey to unknown planets together with "Noise Room Exhibition" which explores new possibilities of the dancefloor concept, both physical and mental. You can feel the influence and passion for contemporary minimal music by the great American masters in "Minimal Space". A synthetic melodic refrain that opens on symphonic and minimal cues. The last song of the EP, "X Game" is instead an experiment, a mental bet designed. The track is about playing with the music. “When I was composing it, I changed the instrumental sound adding different effects to bring a different feel to what is in reality, the same sequence of music, but altered with different sounds and effects”.

Fabrizio Selli and FAusto INtrieri have done a remix swap.
For the new release ”2Remixes” released on digital distributors on July 23, 2021 the artists took turns remixing each other by reworking a song of the other,
taken
from their
respective albums released simultaneously last winter.
Fabrizio Selli reimagines
and reconstructs "X-Game" by FAusto INtrieri, from the album My Number is 13, while FAusto INtrieri remodels "Emotion Hunter" from You

of This
World by Fabrizio Selli
Two
different artists but two great friends in life, who
have
always collaborated on various projects, who exchange advice and opinions on their respective music, supporting each other.
Fabrizio Selli prone to the
soundtrack style sounds, constantly searching for poetic evocations and new compositional paths with an orchestral touch,
influenced by many different styles and masters, from Debussy to Morricone, from Sakamoto to Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays.
Fausto Intrieri has built his sound between ambient and electronic music, noise
glitch and cinematic music. Influenced by the noisy
music of the artistic avant-garde of the 20th century and fond of soundscape, he mentions fragments of the experimental and electronic music of the 80s and 90s with which
he grew
up. Sound and Multimedia Artist, he is constantly looking for emotional sounds with a strong visual and pictorial impact.
Two
different worlds but two worlds that constantly interpenetrate each
other,
the sound of one ends where the sound of the other
begins and vice versa. Colors and personality peculiarities that blend and mixed to give life to "2 Remixes", a double remix where
their
collaboration becomes magical. The melodic theme chosen by each becomes a tribute to a friend, a game, an exercise, to dissect one's own style and musical point
of view.

A Forest
AN AUDIOVISUAL TRIBUTE TO THE CURE
Official Video & Audiovisual Installation
A sensory
manifesto between past and future
An essential
part of the artwork, the official video, conceived as a true audiovisual
installation, strictly developed in a dense, painterly, and high-contrast black
and white, plunges its roots into darkness and the ultimate Dark chromatic
code. Yet, FAusto INtrieri ferries this aesthetic into absolute modernity
through a complex montage of multi-layered imagery (layers), where traditional
filmic fragments seamlessly blend with the cutting-edge visual avant-garde of
of contemporary generative visual techniques. The final result stands as an autonomous
piece of Digital Art, a high-impact synesthetic, visual experience where every
single frame moves in flawless synchronicity with the track's sonic evolution.
A hypnotic work that establishes itself as a true and possible aesthetic
manifesto between past and future, capable of bridging historical memory with
the vanguard.
2 Remixes - Energy Portraits
To support the record this
time, not
a video, but
a series of digital portraits of the two
artists, superchromatic and evanescent, created by FAusto INtrieri. A new puzzle in his
research between sound and image, noise
and painting in the foray into multimedia and digital art.
"Digital
portraits are usually very
comic, they tend to reproduce the most
figurative portraiture part
or, closer to
the narrative and fantasy culture of the illustration
world, they become caricatures or avatars. My
idea for these portaits, however, was to make portraits that were in
some way digital paintings, almost paintings. I was reminded of
the splendid work
of graphic and pictorial transformation that
Gilbert & George did in
the '70s and '80s on their photographic portraits. But for this job,
I wanted to explore another direction. I therefore developed
Digital Portraits that started from
my figures and those of
Fabrizio, but that sought in their evanescence and formal essentiality, to represent the
aura of energy, the
vital flow
of these two people. An energy and
a symbiosis that almost finds the essence of
the music of this
record made together and,
in the chromatic
fading, elaborates silhouettes with
digital palettes. That’s why I called them
Energy Portraits".
FAusto INtrieri
The visual for "Landcape Suite" extract from my last Album "My Number is 13" is out now. The visual is a journey around planet earth. It’s like opening a musical imagination into a new visual dimension painted by sound. A trip by drone, which refers to the 18th century vision of perspective called "a volo d'uccello" or "aerial perspective". A mirrored vision of our planet influenced by the shooting and video editing techniques of experimental cult movies by Godfrey Reggio in the 80s.
The visual for “Train to Kepler - 16”, the second single from the new album “My Number is 13”. "I have always been attracted and fascinated by chromatic research and I find very stimulating, the idea of being able to blend colors in a work in motion". Kepler 16 is an extrasolar gas planet discovered through NASA's Kepler space telescope, 200 light-years away from Earth. A shift like this, can only be imaginary. “We are therefore talking about mental encroachments, sensory journeys, and I believe sound and colors are the best platform through which to go far and to trespass”. It’s a journey of joy in a tumult of colors from which to be transported towards infinity.
